The Net worth history card on the Workspace dashboard shows how the workspace’s financial position changes over time. It combines system-managed month-end snapshots, optional manual history from before account activity and a live Current value.
Net worth is calculated as:
Accounts + real estate equity + other assets − liabilities
Worthic converts values into the workspace reporting currency and applies the ownership that is effective for each point in time. The result depends on the underlying account balances, transactions, investment holdings, asset values, property valuations, liabilities, ownership allocations and currencies recorded in the workspace.
Reading the graph
Once at least three history points are available, Worthic displays a line graph from the earliest visible point to the current live value. With fewer points, the card lists the available values until enough history exists for a meaningful graph.
The card also shows the latest net worth and a change figure. Worthic normally compares the latest point with the closest available point from approximately 12 months earlier. If less history exists, it uses the earliest available point.
Hover over a graph point to view its date and, where a complete component breakdown is available:
- Accounts
- Real estate equity
- Other assets
- Liabilities
- Total net worth
The final Current point is calculated from live workspace data. If a saved snapshot exists for the same date, the live point takes its place on the graph so the current position is not counted twice.
System-managed month-end history
Worthic maintains a snapshot for each completed month from the first month of measurable account activity. If historical information is added after a workspace has been created, Worthic builds the applicable earlier month-end snapshots through the latest completed month. The current incomplete month is represented by Current net worth rather than a month-end snapshot.
Each month-end position is reconstructed from the records that apply on or before that date:
- Ledger-based accounts use their applicable opening balance and transactions through month-end. Pending-review transactions affect balances in the same way as confirmed transactions.
- Balance-tracking accounts use the latest balance observation on or before month-end. A later balance is not carried backward into an earlier month.
- Asset and investment accounts use the applicable purchases, disposals, holdings, value adjustments, valuations and prices recorded through month-end.
- Archived accounts remain part of months in which they existed and are excluded after their archive date.
Adding, editing, moving or discarding a historical transaction, balance, valuation or ownership record marks the relevant history for recalculation. The next Dashboard or Net worth history refresh reconciles the managed snapshots. If the financial result or its material calculation inputs changed, the graph point shows the snapshot date followed by the latest recalculation date, for example 31/05/2026 (Recalculated 21/07/2026). Unchanged snapshots and Current net worth retain their normal date display.
Ownership and currencies
The ownership selected when an account is created applies from the account’s first activity. Later account or reporting-line ownership changes apply from their recorded effective dates. This allows historical net worth to reflect the economic interest held at each month-end rather than applying today’s ownership to every earlier period.
For managed snapshots, each balance or value is converted from its native currency using the historical exchange rate for that month-end. If no rate is available on the final calendar day because it is a weekend or market holiday, Worthic uses the latest available rate on or before month-end. Recalculating a balance for an existing month therefore uses the same month-end FX basis. Changing the workspace reporting currency rebuilds managed history in the newly selected reporting currency using the corresponding rate for each month.
Adding earlier history manually
Use the plus (+) icon on the Net worth history card to enter reliable historical positions for months before the workspace’s first account activity. Once account activity begins, that month and all later completed months are system-managed.
The Manual history window initially offers up to 12 eligible completed months. For each month, choose the currency and enter:
- Accounts
- Real estate equity
- Other assets
- Liabilities
Worthic calculates the row’s net worth automatically. Enter liabilities as positive amounts; Worthic subtracts them when calculating the total. Blank suggested rows are ignored when you save.
Select the plus button at the bottom of the table to add an additional earlier month. Each month can contain only one snapshot, and manual entries must remain before the first month of account activity.
Editing or superseding manual history
Open Manual history again to update an eligible manual entry. You can change its month, currency or component amounts, provided the month remains eligible and is not occupied by another snapshot. Use the remove action beside a row to delete it, then select Save.
If backdated account activity moves the first-activity boundary into months that contain manual history, those overlapping months become system-managed. Worthic removes the manual points from the graph and retains the superseded records in its audit history. Earlier manual months remain available.
Manual entries are intended to capture a reliable historical position, not to recreate transactions or account balances. Changing a manual snapshot affects the history record only and does not update an underlying account, investment, property or liability.
Currencies and manual values
Each manual row can use a supported currency. Worthic preserves the amounts in the entered currency and converts them to the workspace reporting currency for the graph using the snapshot date. This allows older records to retain their original currency while keeping the displayed history comparable.
Exporting net worth information
Use the CSV or PDF actions on the card to generate a Net Worth report. The report is created as a Worthic document and can be opened from the generated artifact. CSV is useful for further analysis, while PDF provides a formatted record of the net worth position and its component breakdown. A net worth PDF report can also be requested from the AI assistant.
A generated report remains a record of the information available on its generation date. Recalculating a historical dashboard snapshot does not rewrite an existing report; generate a new report when an updated record is required.
Maintaining reliable history
For the most reliable trend:
- Record transactions, balances, valuations and investment activity with their correct effective dates.
- Maintain the correct account and reporting-line links.
- Record ownership changes with their correct effective dates.
- Use manual entries only for reliable positions before account activity begins.
- Use the appropriate original currency for each manual snapshot.
- Correct source records rather than attempting to adjust a managed graph point directly.
