Worthic can detect password protection on supported PDF, Office and ZIP files uploaded through the application, received by email or submitted through an integration. A protected document must be unlocked before Worthic can extract its contents and prepare it for review.
A document waiting for a password remains paused. Other documents continue processing normally.
Unlocking a document
When Worthic detects a protected file, a Password required window identifies the document and asks for its password.
1. Check the file name.
2. Enter the document’s password.
3. Optionally select Save this password for future use.
4. Select Use password.
Worthic checks the password before continuing. If it is incorrect, an error appears in the window and you can try again.
After the file is unlocked, processing resumes. Review the extracted information and proposed destination when the document is ready. Unlocking a file does not confirm its contents or approve any extracted transactions.
Providing the password later
If you do not have the password, close the password window. The document remains paused, and you can return to it later.
To resume:
1. Open Documents → Inbox.
2. Find the document showing that a password is required.
3. Select Enter password.
4. Enter the password and select Use password.
Document review and confirmation remain unavailable while the file is waiting for its password.
Closing the window is different from selecting Cancel upload or Cancel processing. Close the window when you want to retain the paused document and supply its password later.
Saving and managing passwords
Saving a password is optional. Select Save this password for future use if you want Worthic to retain it for reuse with compatible protected documents.
Saved passwords are encrypted and private to the user who saved them. Other users cannot browse your saved passwords, and Worthic does not display their values in the management window.
To remove a saved password:
1. Open Documents → Inbox.
2. Select Manage saved passwords. This link is also available in the password window.
3. Identify the entry by its label and file format.
4. Select Delete.
After deletion, you may need to enter the password again for future protected files.
Documents received by email or an integration
Protected documents received by email or submitted through an API integration can also pause while waiting for a password. An authorized user can open the document in Inbox and use Enter password to resume processing.
Integrations can also use Worthic’s supported document-password API. Do not include document passwords in URLs or ordinary support messages.
If the document still cannot be processed
Check that you are using the password for the document itself, rather than your Worthic sign-in password.
If the password is correct but processing fails, confirm that the file opens successfully in its usual application. Corrupt files and unsupported encryption formats may require a replacement file from the sender.
Avoid repeatedly uploading the same document while it is paused or processing. Check its existing Inbox entry first.
